Sometimes the most important thing as an artist is whom you choose to associate with.
I say this because often, the worst enemies I’ve ever had were fellow artists. Jealousy and greed
and politics follows this. If you notice you’ll see many of the top artists as loners. There’s a good
reason for it. They learned early that too many people who claim to be their for your best interest in truth are not. Be cautious of that overly helpful guy or person who just has to be in your face. They’re there for a reason. From my point of view, they can only get in your face if they have money in their hands. Other than that, there’s another agenda afoot and it’s up to your keen sense of personality judgement that will lead you to a new ally or an enemy at your heart. I remember the Ferengi Rule of Acquisition #48: “The bigger the smile, the sharper the knife! ”
So you have to make your tools your best friends and make yourself your best friend too. Enjoy drawing and avoid being drawn from.
