One the greatest, I’d say it’s a tie for #1 best animated movie of all time and in my top 10 of best movies is the classic “Gulliver’s Travels” by the legendary animation team of Max and David Fleischer.
Quality and innovation darn near begin and end with their works. They brought us Popeye and the majestic Superman cartoon serials. Nobody even comes a distant second to this fine duo.
To look at this film with it’s stunning visuals, endearing musical score which got two Oscar nominations, the comedy, the romance, and of course the comic relief of Gabby who made his debut in this movie, you can rest assured that added to your collection you’ll have years of entertainment.
I wish there was a major extended version with commentary from today’s animators and aficionados.
Every inch of this film has classical illustration and painting and sculpting. Just top notch all together.
Do yourself a favor and buy this gem.
Also don’t pass up the opportunity for another classic by the Fleischer’s “Hoppity Goes To Town”.
